Job Title: Business Development Manager
– C&I Solar + BESS

Overview:
Our partners are seeking a self-starting and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to originate and close commercial and industrial (C&I) solar and battery storage deals across target markets in the U.S. This is a high-impact, quota-carrying role focused on identifying prospects, structuring solutions, and guiding projects from initial contact through signed agreement.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the C&I energy landscape, including customer needs, utility tariffs, incentive programs, and the solar + storage sales cycle. You’ll be supported by internal teams (engineering, policy, finance) to deliver tailored offerings to clients in sectors like manufacturing, retail, real estate, logistics, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Generation & Prospecting: Identify new commercial clients through market research, referrals, outreach, and industry networking
• Client Engagement: Meet with prospects to understand their energy usage, financial goals, and ESG priorities; educate them on solar + BESS offerings
• Solution Structuring: Collaborate with internal teams to model proposals, site feasibility, and storage applications
• Deal Management: Own the customer relationship from first meeting to signed term sheet—coordinate due diligence, site access, and contract negotiations
• Market Expansion: Stay informed on policy shifts, incentive programs (e.g., ITC, state rebates), and utility tariffs to identify emerging sales opportunities
• Partnership Development: Build relationships with brokers, EPCs, real estate developers, and facility managers to expand market presence
• CRM Discipline: Maintain accurate and timely records of all outreach, pipeline updates, and forecasts
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, energy, economics, or related field
• 3–7 years of direct sales or business development experience in solar, energy storage, or energy services
• Proven success closing multi-site, multi-million-dollar C&I energy projects
• Strong financial and technical understanding of solar + storage solutions, PPAs, leases, and utility billing structures
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client management skills
• Ability to travel to client sites and conferences as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with Fortune 1000 clients, REITs, or large commercial portfolios
• Knowledge of key U.S. markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, and NYISO
• Understanding of energy storage dispatch modeling and demand charge reduction strategies
• Comfort working with CRM tools, proposal software, and Excel models
• MBA or advanced energy-related degree
• Spanish speaker (fluent or native)

This is a cross-functional legal role with direct exposure to commercial structuring, development, interconnection, financing, and M&A.
As part of a lean legal team, you’ll work closely with business leaders to provide strategic legal advice while rolling up your sleeves to draft and negotiate the critical agreements that make projects happen.
Key Responsibilities:
• Transactional Legal Support: Draft, review, and negotiate project-level agreements such as PPAs, EPC contracts, site control documents, interconnection agreements, and NDAs
• Project Development Counsel: Provide legal guidance through land use, environmental, permitting, and regulatory hurdles at the local, state, and federal level

Qualifications:
• JD from an accredited law school; admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience (combination of law firm and in-house preferred)
• Strong track record negotiating contracts in project development or energy infrastructure
• Familiarity with power project lifecycle—from land acquisition through COD
• Sharp analytical skills and excellent communication across stakeholders
• Comfort working independently and managing diverse workloads in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• In-house experience at an IPP, developer, or clean energy investor
• Experience working across PJM, ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, or WECC markets
• Understanding of project finance structures, tax equity, or storage-specific revenue models
• Experience managing outside counsel and helping build internal legal systems
